BIKASH reaches out to help children with disabilities and underprivileged women in the rural backwaters of Bankura district, West Bengal, India.
The aim is simple, to develop the most vulnerable sections of society to achieve their full potential. Originally started as a special education centre for disabled children in this backward area, Bikash has expanded into field work to support children and women in outlying villages.
Bikash is an Indian NGO, started by a group of social workers in Bankura under the leadership of Uttam Mukherjee, an Anthropologist.
BIKASH started in the provision of rehabilitation of the disabled and has expanded into health, nutrition and women empowerment to provide services with a holistic approach to the communities in which it works.

You can give a child wonderful gift of a quality education at our Special School for Rs. 1000 a month or Rs. 12000 a year. This would provide the student with a school uniform, bags, books, and even a meal.

BIKASH – a Bengali word means ‘development’ in English; was established in the year 1996. Bikash serves, Children with special needs and underprivileged women in the rural areas of Bankura, a District of West Bengal. It started its journey as a special education centre for the children with special needs in Bankura and today, it has expanded into other various sectors, true to its name, it is continuously working for the development of the socio-economic conditions of the underprivileged sections of the community.
